Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 2026
This is written in plain language, not legal boilerplate. Doughwise is a free tool built by one person. I'll tell you exactly what I collect and why — no surprises.
What Doughwise collects
The calculator itself collects nothing. Every calculation happens in your browser — no data is sent anywhere, no account is required, nothing is stored. When you close the tab, it's gone.
The only personal data Doughwise collects is your email address, and only if you choose to sign up for updates. That's it.
Why I collect your email
One reason: to let you know when I add new features or learn something genuinely useful about sourdough fermentation from this project. I won't use it for anything else.
Who processes your data
Brevo (formerly Sendinblue) handles email delivery and stores your email address on my behalf. Brevo is a French company operating under GDPR. Their privacy policy is at brevo.com/en/legal/privacypolicy.
Cloudflare provides hosting and security for this site. Cloudflare processes anonymised traffic analytics — page views, general location (country level), device type. No personally identifiable information is included. Their privacy policy is at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
I don't sell your data. I don't share it with anyone beyond the processors listed above. I never will.
Cookies and tracking
Doughwise uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless by default. No tracking cookies are set. No consent banner is required because no personal data is collected through analytics.
Cloudflare Turnstile (the spam protection on the signup form) may set a functional cookie to verify you're human. This is strictly necessary for the form to work and is not used for tracking.
How long I keep your data
Your email address stays on the list until you unsubscribe. Every email I send includes a one-click unsubscribe link. If you ask me to delete your data directly, I'll do it immediately — email hello@doughwise.app.
Your rights
If you're in the EU, UK, or California, you have specific legal rights over your personal data. For everyone, I honour the following:
- Access: Ask me what data I hold about you and I'll tell you.
- Correction: If something is wrong, I'll fix it.
- Deletion: Ask and it's gone. No questions asked.
- Portability: I can give you a copy of your data in a readable format.
- Objection: You can stop receiving emails at any time via the unsubscribe link or by emailing me directly.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@doughwise.app.
Future changes
If Doughwise ever grows into something bigger — a bake log, a Pro tier, anything that involves collecting more data — I'll be upfront about what that means before it happens. I'll email the list with a clear explanation and ask for your consent before using your data in any new way. No surprises.
Legal basis (GDPR)
For EU and UK users: the legal basis for processing your email address is consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). You gave explicit consent when you checked the opt-in box on the signup form. You can withdraw that consent at any time by unsubscribing.
